Wilpinjong CHPP Expansion Tunnels

Approx. 2000m2 Applied to corrugated steel plate tunnels

The Situation: Two Multiplate conveyor tunnels were being constructed for an expansion of the Wilpinjong CHPP in the NSW Central Tablelands coal fields. They required waterproofing to protect them from both leakage and corrosion.

The Solution: A coating of a cold spray-applied membrane was spray-applied to the outer surface of each tunnel to form a seemless membrane which will protect the steel from corrosion and significantly extend the working life of the tunnels. Geotextile was laid over the tunnel prior to backfilling with soil, in order to protect the membrane from damage.
