Corrugated Tunnels – Karara
Karara Iron Ore Mine, WA – Reclaim & Escape Tunnels
2460m2 Applied to corrugated steel plate tunnels
The Situation: The Karara Iron Ore Mine, some 200km east of Geraldton, had new escape and discharge conveyor tunnels being constructed and they required waterproofing to protect them from both leakage and rust.
The Solution: The outer surfaces of the tunnels were sprayed with a coating of a cold spray-applied membrane to a nominal thickness of 2mm. The result was a smooth, even waterproof cold spray-applied membrane surface over both of the tunnels, ready for backfilling.
