Corrugated Tunnels – Daunia

Daunia CHPP – Reclaim & Escape Tunnels

4960m2 Applied to corrugated steel plate tunnels
Cold spray-applied membrane application to Daunia Tunnel

The Situation: The Daunia Coal mine, some 27 km east of Moranbah in the Central Queensland coalfields, had new escape and discharge conveyor tunnels being constructed and they required waterproofing to protect them from both leakage and rust.

The Solution: The outer surfaces of the tunnels were sprayed with a coating of a cold spray-applied membrane to a nominal thickness of 2mm. The result was a smooth, even, waterproof cold spray-applied membrane surface over both of the tunnels, ready for backfilling.
