The Situation: The Mt Carlton Gold mine, located west of Bowen, had new Multiplate Reclaim and HelCor Access tunnels being constructed and they required waterproofing to protect them from both leakage and rust.

The Solution: The outer surfaces of the reclaim tunnel were sprayed in-situ with a coating of a cold spray-applied membrane to a nominal thickness of 2mm. The access tunnel sections were also sprayed, together with the joining sections, which could then be assembled and put in place, ready for backfilling.
