Middlemount Coal Reclaim Tunnel

The Situation: A galvanised steel Reclaim Tunnel was to be installed for the Middlemount Coal Project, where it would contact soil with a high chloride content. A barrier membrane was required to protect the steel from the corrosive effects of this contact.

The Solution: A coating of cold spray-applied membrane coating was spray-applied to the outer surface of the tunnel to form a seemless membrane which will protect the steel from corrosion and significantly extend the working life of the tunnel.
