The Situation: The Gold Coast Light Railway depot was to be built on a capped and unlined landfill site, generating landfill gases including methane and carbon monoxide. Protection measures were required for the safety of personnel on and off-site.

The Solution: A Geovent system was designed for the site. An underground venting grid system was designed and laid out upon the Depot site, with a cold spray-applied membrane installed onto geotextile base under the Administration and Storage buildings, Lift Pits and Maintenance Pits. A layer of CetCoat was also applied to the Pit walls, as additional protection. Permanent gas monitoring points were installed throughout the site, to access the venting system.

The situation: The Grosvenor Coal mine, some 5 km north of Moranbah in the Central Queensland coalfields, had new transport (M&M) and conveyor (CV) drift tunnels being constructed and they required waterproofing to protect them from both leakage and rust.

The solution: The outer surfaces of the tunnels were sprayed with a coating of a cold spray-applied membrane to a nominal thickness of 2mm. The result was a smooth, even, waterproof, cold spray-applied membrane surface over both of the tunnels, ready for backfilling.
