4,420m2 Vapour Barrier Membrane and geovent system under apartment block development on old petrol refinery site.

The Situation: Contaminated soil from under the old petrol refinery was removed from the site, but contamination was found to be still seeping up from the substrate on the site at Bulimba. This contamination had to be sealed before the new apartment blocks could be constructed.

The Solution: A Geovent system was designed for the site. It was laid out through the footings and across the slab area, covered in geotextile and then sealed with a 2mm coat of a cold spray-applied membrane, with risers protruding to allow venting.
