Carborough Downs Coal Valve Tunnel

1300m² Applied to geotextile and corrugated steel plate tunnel

The Situation: A conveyor tunnel was being constructed for a new coal mine in the Central Queensland coal fields, and it required waterproofing to protect it from both leakage and rust.

The Solution: A tack coat of a cold spray-applied membrane was applied over the whole tunnel, which was then covered by geotextile and all sealed with a 2mm coat of the cold spray-applied membrane. The result was a smooth, even, waterproof cold spray-applied membrane surface over the entire tunnel, ready for backfilling.
